How to Check for Leaks in Your Air Conditioning Unit

Air conditioning can be an essential part of your home. This device helps maintain a comfortable environment while you do chores, relax, eat, and spend time with the family. You definitely want your air conditioner working on a hot day. One of the most common problems air conditioners can have is a leak due to wear and tear.

AC services in Rocky Point may be needed, but there are some problem and maintenance solutions you can provide yourself. When your air conditioner has been running for an extensive period of time it usually gets worn down leading to a leak. Professional AC services will probably be needed if there is in fact a leak, but cost can be cut down if you do some of the overhaul yourself.

The first step you will want to take is checking the evaporation pans, usually located at the bottom of your AC unit. This pan is a catch basin for water that flows down from your unit to sit until it evaporates entirely. When you have a leak the spilling occurs while the air conditioner is skewed upwards toward the house which causes the water to leak before properly evaporating. To solve this problem just tilt the pan downwards so it can hold the water more securely.

Another way to prevent leaks is to make sure your air conditioning unit is leveled. To fix this you must make sure that your unit is at perfect right angles with your home. One tool to use is the leveling ruler. When measuring with this ruler you should make sure that the bubble in your leveling ruler is at the center. If the bubble is not center than your air conditioner off balance and needs to be properly leveled. You can do this by using wedges or shims to correct the leveling or call AC services in Rocky Point to correct your leaking problems.
